Gudied Response 2 for Blind Side

I am doing the guided response for my new novel, the Blind Side.  The title Blind Side relates to this book, because I feel that blind side on the field is a lot different than my last interpretation of the title.  The Blind Side on the field seems that you will never know what you are going to be up against that day or at that moment on the field.  Many surprises are in store for you on a football, such as defenses and offense.  Also, you have to run the plays that the coaches want.
Oher on the sideline of a NFL Game

In our life and in Michael's life this are very similar, because Michael never knows what is going to be thrown at him.  He knew he lived in a bad neighborhood, but never knew that it would lead to this.  Many surprises are in store for you in real life just like the football field because Michael had no idea that he would go from the ghetto to a very wealthy family.  Lastly, like running plays in a football game things are expected of you and in our life and Michales life things are also expected of us as well.

Free choice for The Blind Side

The Blind Side
By: Michael Lewis
The beginning of the novel it talks about the real football season and gets you into the real football mood.  I did not mind that the author did this because the novel is a pretty good length.  I know that this novel is not just a football story but has a great amount of a story to tell.  As the story went on, my emotions went from being in a football mood to a more alert and engaged mood as the story got more interesting.  As I am reading I tend to wonder to myself about what happened to Michael Ohers parents.  I then turn the pages and then the author answered my questions, so I feel that the author answered all my questions about the text and story that I have had so far.  All of the words the author uses I can understand and are used in the right way so the reader can understand what is going on.  The author has done a great job with details in writing this story.  I have enjoyed reading it so far and I hope it stays this smooth for me all through out this novel.

Blind Side

I am doing the guided response for my new novel, the Blind Side.  The title Blind Side relates to this book, because I feel that he was in a blind situation by living in the ghetto and he did not know what he had in store for him.  I think that the "blind" means that when he turned his bad ways around he blew up and was a stud football player.  By the family letting him in their family really helped him turn his bad ways around and he changed for the better.  I think that Michael is a good person.  I think all he needed was "that chance" and that is what helped him get away from everything.  Letting his family get some of the fame once he got big was the right thing to do because they brought him up and straightened him up. It took courage to change his old ways.  Michaels family also had to be brave because I know it was probably hard to take someone in to their family.  Not only being just a stranger but, being African American had to change their thoughts about things as well.  Many people feel different about African Americans the white people.  They think that they are trouble.  These are all things I think about the characters and about the book so far.  Hopefully, I will continue to read and enjoy this book.

The new book...

I have completely finished Hate List and now I will be starting on a book called The Blind Side. Many sports fans or maybe just football fans have seen the movie.  The movie came out last year and was a big hit for many sports fans.  I went and seen the movie and liked it a lot, that is why i chose this book to read for the next novel.  In my other blog I love talking about sports or even learning about them.  In most books that have a movie or a movie that has a book, there are always many differences.  While you are reading the book you can picture things way different than you would seeing it on a big screen.  Your mind and your imagination can make the way you see this way different than you and the author do.  Most movies that have the book about them such as Twilight, people say that the books are amazing but the movie is not as good.  They also say that it is like nothing they thought it was going to be or it is way different from the actual readings.  Hopefully the Blind Side will not be this way.  I think that this book will be just like the movie and cover a lot of information, maybe more about actual football.  This book has about three hundred and thirty pages in it.  It also has some cool pictures of the actual football player so I can get a feel of what the characters look like.  Once I start it I hope I enjoy it as much as I did the book The Hate List.

Hate List: Final Recap

Hate List by Jennifer Brown
I have finally finished this novel.  It took me about a month to read all of it.  I am not a big reader and when we first got the news that we would be reading a pretty long novel I was kind of bummed out.  As soon as we started it felt kind of like a lame and boring story to me.  Once the book went into further detail and I started to get more interested.  I could not put the book down, I also took many notes over my readings too.  By taking notes over the text really helps me pass all the quizzes we had to take over the book.  The text was easy to comprehend once you can understand how the author writes.  I think that Jennifer Brown is a good writer and I would read another one of her books.
As for the final parts of the book, the book got better towards the end because I knew the outcome of everything.  There were many surprises in the end too.  I did not know that Val would give a speech at Graduation.  I did not know that they brought the time capsule to graduation and would announce everything that everyone put in it.  The main thing that threw me off and got me curious was at the end when Valerie was leaving on a train.  As soon as I read that and realized that there was not that much text after that part in the story I was curious and wanted to know where she went.  The end of the book was good and it really gives you your own imagination about what happened at the end, because you can think that she got away from everything and found happiness somewhere else.  It gives you many thoughts and lets you end the book how you saw things in your head.

Hate List recap: free choice

Hate List by Jennifer Brown
I am starting to enjoy this novel more and more every page I read.  My emotions when I am reading this novel are I tend to become curious about what is going to happen next.  I also want to know what the characters look like, because in my mind I can get a clue.  I wish that this book had some pictures so they can fill the blanks in my head about what the characters look like.   The text sometimes messes me up because it flashes back a lot and I am not really used to reading books like this.  In some ways its good but others it not because it is different.  The way they talk in this novel would be in present/ modern day tense because the way the talk is how we do today.  Nothing is not to flashy about how they talk or to old school, so this relates mainly to the way we talk today.  The strangest part like I said is the flashbacks.  Some of the time I tend to flip back to the pages that I have already read, so I can get the full effect of the text.  While flipping back, I can reread what I need and helps me remember the text and what is going on in the novel.  If you read the text clearly and take notes about what is going on and list the characters, then you will be able to understand the text and novel a lot better.

Hate List recap

                                                 Hate List by Jennifer Brown
I have read two parts of this book now, so I know some more characters than the last recap.  Now I know of Frankie, Valeries little brother.  To me he seems like a good brother because he seems to care about her and her issues.  Mr. Kline, the one who saved the kids by taking the shot.  He seems like a good guy who really cares about the kids.  Jessica Campbell seems stuck up and is a bad person because she makes fun of Valerie.  She deserves what she got.  Detective Panzella seems a little fishy to me.  I don't like him he ask to many questions.  Dr. Dentley the Garvin General staff psychiatrist seems like an OK guy.  The title is making a lot more sense to me as i continue to read on.  I liked Part 1 more than I liked Part 2.  It seems like there was more action in Part 1 and that more things happened.  Part 2 is kind of like continuous the same thing over and over again.  It also has a lot of flashing back.  I am not a big fan of the flash backs, but this book has kept my interest so far.  I will continue to read and am hoping that the book continues to keep my interest.
